Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2026/1558 9.7.2026 COUNCIL DECISION (EU) 2026/1558 of 29 June 2026 appointing seven members and eight alternate members, proposed by the Kingdom of Denmark, of the Committee of the Regions THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 305 thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (EU) 2019/852 of 21 May 2019 determining the composition of the Committee of the Regions(1), Having regard to the proposal of the Danish Government,

Whereas:

(1) Pursuant to Article 300(3) of the Treaty, the Committee of the Regions is to consist of representatives of regional and local bodies who either hold a regional or local authority electoral mandate or are politically accountable to an elected assembly.

(2) On 10 December 2024, the Council adopted Decision (EU) 2025/71(2), appointing the members and alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the period from 26 January 2025 to 25 January 2030.

(3) Seven members’ seats on the Committee of the Regions have become vacant following the resignations of Mr Bent GRAVERSEN, Mr Kasper Egede GLYNGØ, Ms Kirsten Maria Meyer JENSEN, Mr Karsten Søndergaard NIELSEN, and Ms Hanne ROED, and the end of the national mandate on the basis of which Mr Erik FLYVHOLM and Mr Karsten Uno PETERSEN were proposed for appointment.

(4) Six alternate members’ seats on the Committee of the Regions have become vacant following the resignation of Ms Anne MADSEN and Mr Thomas ROHDEN, and the end of the national mandate on the basis of which Mr Jens Christian GJESING, Mr Henrik Gottlieb HANSEN, Mr Tage LEEGAARD, and Mr Mads SØRENSEN were proposed for appointment.

(5) Two alternate members' seats will become vacant following the appointment of Ms Line Krogh LAY and Mr Piet Papageorge TIMMERMANN as members of the Committee of the Regions.

(6) The Danish Government has proposed the following representatives of regional or local bodies who hold a regional or local authority electoral mandate as members of the Committee of the Regions for the remainder of the current term of office, which runs until 25 January 2030: Ms Kirsten Morild Vincent ANDERSEN, Regionsrådsmedlem, Regionsrådet, Region Nordjylland (Regional Councilor, North Denmark Regional Council), Ms Helle GADE, Borgmester, Silkeborg Kommune (Mayor, Silkeborg Municipality), Ms Sofie Wagner Lærkesen HOLM, Regionsrådsmedlem, Region Østdanmark (Regional Councilor, East Denmark Regional Council), Ms Pernelle JENSEN, Regionsrådsmedlem, Region Syddanmark (Regional Councilor, South Denmark Regional Council), Ms Line Krogh LAY, Kommunalbestyrelsesmedlem, Stevns Kommune (Council Member, Stevns Municipality), Mr Søren SMALBRO, Borgmester, Hjørring Kommune (Mayor, Hjørring Municipality), and Mr Piet Papageorge TIMMERMANN, Kommunalbestyrelsesmedlem, Glostrup Kommune (Council Member, Glostrup Municipality).
