(EUMA) (EUMA/1/2024) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38 thereof, Having regard to the Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/162 of 23 January 2023 on a European Union Mission in Armenia
(EUMA)(1), and in particular Article 8 thereof,
Whereas:
(1) By means of Decision (CFSP) 2023/162, the Council authorised the Political and Security Committee (PSC), in accordance with the third paragraph of Article 38 of the Treaty on European Union, to take the relevant decisions concerning the political control and strategic direction of EUMA, including the decisions on the appointment of the Head of Mission, upon a proposal by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
(2) On 24 January 2023, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2023/164(2) appointing Mr Markus RITTER as Head of Mission of EUMA from 24 January 2023to 20 February 2024.
(3) On 26 January 2024, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy proposed to extend the mandate of Mr Markus RITTER as Head of Mission of EUMA from 21 February 2024until 19 February 2025,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1 The mandate of Mr Markus RITTER as Head of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) is hereby extended from 21 February 2024until 19 February 2025.
Article 2 This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
It shall apply from 21 February 2024.
