Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2025/200 30.1.2025 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2025/200 of 28 January 2025 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) (EUCAP Sahel Mali/1/2025) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision 2014/219/CFSP of 15 April 2014 on the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) (1), and in particular Article 7(1) thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Pursuant to Article 7(1) of Decision 2014/219/CFSP, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising political control and strategic direction of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the ‘High Representative’).

(2) On 25 January 2024, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/431 (2), extending the mandate of Mr Peter KOLDING as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 February 2024 until 31 January 2025.

(3) On 19 December 2024, the High Representative proposed to extend the mandate of Mr Peter KOLDING as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2026, pending the extension of the mandate of EUCAP Sahel Mali.

(4) On 27 January 2025, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/166 (3), amending Decision 2014/219/CFSP and extending the mandate of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2027,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1 The mandate of Mr Peter KOLDING as Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) is extended from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2026.

Article 2 This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
