NOTIFICATION Maharashtra Village Panchayats act, 1959.

No Yachika-2026/C.R.20/E-1555172/Para-2.— Whereas the term of certain Village Panchayats in the State have been expired and term of certain Village Panchayats to be expired on or before 28th February 2026 and the elections of the said Village Panchayats could not be completed due to administrative difficulties ;

And whereas, the second proviso to clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 151 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayat Act (III of 1959), empowers the State Government to appoint a suitable person as the Administrator on Panchayats, by notification in the Official Gazette, if due to administrative difficulties it is not possible to hold Panchayat elections ;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 182 of the said Act and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby delegate its powers to appoint Administrator on the Village Panchayats conferred under section 151 to the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad within his jurisdiction and direct,—

(a) to appoint existing Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat as Administrator on the said Panchayat for a period of six months or till the completion of the election process of constitution of the Village Panchayat, whichever is earlier,

(b) to constitute administrative committee of existing Deputy Sarpanch and members of Village Panchayat for smooth functioning of Panchayat; and

(c) to issue necessary instructions to the Administrator and committees to exercise and perform all the powers and duties as provided under the said Act and the rules made thereunder.
