Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2024/2646 4.10.2024 DECISION (EU) 2024/2646 OF THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE MEMBER STATES of 2 October 2024 appointing Judges to the General Court THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 19 thereof, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Articles 254 and 255 thereof,
Whereas:
(1) The terms of office of 26 Judges of the General Court expired on 31 August 2022.
(2) That being the case, it has been proposed that the term of office of Mr Juraj SCHWARCZ as Judge of the General Court be renewed. Mr Juraj SCHWARCZ should therefore be appointed for the period from the date of entry into force of this Decision to 31 August 2028.
(3) In addition, the terms of office of 26 Judges of the General Court are due to expire on 31 August 2025.
Appointments to those posts should therefore be made for the period from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2031.
(4) It has been proposed that the terms of office of Ms Suzanne KINGSTON, Mr Colm MAC EOCHAIDH, Mr José MARTÍN Y PÉREZ DE NANCLARES and Mr Miguel SAMPOL PUCURULL as Judges of the General Court be renewed.
(5) In accordance with Article 7 of Protocol No 3 on the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and following the appointment of Mr Stéphane GERVASONI as Judge to the Court of Justice, a judge should be appointed to the General Court for the remainder of the term of office of Mr Stéphane GERVASONI, which runs until 31 August 2025. Mr Hervé CASSAGNABÈRE has been nominated for the vacant post.
(6) Finally, in accordance with Article 7 of Protocol No 3 on the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and following the appointment of Mr Dean SPIELMANN as Advocate-General to the Court of Justice, a judge should be appointed to the General Court for the remainder of the term of office of Mr Dean SPIELMANN, which runs until 31 August 2028. Mr Raphaël MEYER has been nominated for the vacant post.
(7) The panel set up under Article 255 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union has given a favourable opinion on the suitability of these candidates to perform the duties of Judge of the General Court,
HAVE ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1 Mr Juraj SCHWARCZ is hereby appointed Judge to the General Court for the period from the date of the entry into force of this Decision to 31 August 2028.
Article 2 The following are hereby appointed Judges of the General Court for the period from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2031: — Ms Suzanne KINGSTON, — Mr Colm MAC EOCHAIDH, — Mr José MARTÍN Y PÉREZ DE NANCLARES, — Mr Miguel SAMPOL PUCURULL.
Article 3 Mr Hervé CASSAGNABÈRE is hereby appointed Judge to the General Court for the period from 7 October 2024 to 31 August 2025.
