Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the details of India's humanitarian assistance and disaster relief mission called Operation Amistad launched after the June 2026 earthquakes in Venezuela including the personnel and equipment deployed and the relief material supplied thereunder;

1(b) the number of people treated so far in the Field Hospital established by India in Caracas and the details of the medical services provided therein; and

(c) whether the Government has conducted an internal assessment of the strategic and diplomatic benefits accruing to India from Operation Amistad particularly in the context of competing powers operating in the region, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH)

(a) & (b) India’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission, Operation Amistad, was launched on 26 June 2026 to provide immediate relief and support to the people of Venezuela affected by the widespread destruction caused by two massive earthquakes that hit Venezuela on 24 June 2026. Under the Operation Amistad, India delivered 30 tons of disaster relief supplies, 6 ton of medical aid, 02 BHISHM Cubes and established an Indian Army Field hospital. The Indian Army Field hospital deployed in Caracas, Venezuela, carried out 2over 8000 medical procedures and laboratory investigations, including over 20 major surgeries. Details of HADR assistance and medical services delivered to Venezuela under Operation Amistad is attached at Annexure-I.

(c) India’s Operation Amistad, both in terms of relief supplies and medical assistance was widely acknowledged and appreciated by the people and Government of Venezuela. India was among the first few countries to set up a fully equipped field hospital to treat the earthquake victims. Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, H.E. Ms. Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez, thanked Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi for the timely help, support and solidarity extended by India. The Venezuealan Health Minister and Foreign Minister personally visited the field hospital and appreciated India’s efforts. The Indian Army Medical Team was conferred with the ‘Order of the Hero’ Award from the Government of Venezuela for their exemplary services. Overall, Operation Amistad has generated immense goodwill for India and strengthened bilateral relations of both the countries.

3Annexure-I Details of HADR assistance to Venezuela under Operation Amistad Sl.N Nature of Details of Assistance o Assistance/deployme nt 1 Disaster relief India delivered 30 tons of disaster supplies relief material to Venezuela, comprising family tents, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, kitchen sets, hygiene kits, dignity kits, generators, portable water purifiers, portable toilets, emergency lighting systems, etc.

2 Medical Aid India delivered 02 Aarogya Maitri BHISHM Cubes along with 06 tonnes of medicines and medical equipment comprising essential and life-saving medicines viz. antibiotics, analgesics, IV fluids, ORS, water purification tablets, emergency medical equipment, trauma-care dressing materials, surgical consumables and other critical pharmaceutical supplies.
