Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state :
(a) the number of the Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) presently functioning in Himachal Pradesh, district-wise; and
(b) whether any proposal has been received from the Government of Himachal Pradesh for opening a PSK in Chamba district, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH) 1(a) Currently, 01 Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and 06 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) are functional under the Regional Passport Office
(RPO) Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. The details are as under:

(b) This Ministry has not received any proposal from the State Government of Himachal Pradesh for opening a PSK in Chamba district. Opening of Passport Offices (POs)/ Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs)/ Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) is an on-going activity and depends upon various factors including scalability of the present PSK/POPSK, distance from existing POs/ PSKs/ POPSKs, increasing demand/ volume of passport applications from a particular region. The Ministry of External Affairs, in 2association with the Department of Posts (DoP), decided in January 2017 to open Seva Kendras at the Head Post Offices (HPO)/Post Offices (PO) in the country, including in Himachal Pradesh, called Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) in each Lok Sabha Constituency (LSC) where there is no PSK or POPSK. Under this initiative, all 04 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Hi- machal Pradesh are covered with either a PSK or a POPSK.
