Parliament Question: Welfare Schemes for Scheduled Tribes in Bihar

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO- 2057 TO BE ANSWERED ON- 30/07/2026 WELFARE SCHEMES FOR SCHEDULED TRIBES IN BIHAR

2057. SHRI RAJA RAM SINGH:

Will the Minister of TRIBAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes for Scheduled Tribes in Bihar, including Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of funds released and utilised under tribal development programmes during the last five years, district-wise;

(c) the total number of applications received under various schemes and the number of beneficiaries who have availed the benefits thereunder, district-wise;

(d) the number of beneficiaries covered under education, livelihood and housing schemes, district- wise; and

(e) whether any new residential schools or tribal hostels have been sanctioned for Bihar, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR TRIBAL AFFAIRS (SHRI DURGADAS UIKEY)

(a): The Ministry is regularly coordinating with concerned line Ministries/Departments / State Tribal Welfare Department / other line State Departments for implementation of the existing interventions under the PM JANMAN, DA JGUA and other tribal development schemes to expedite the progress and achievements. Such reviews are undertaken at least once in a quarter and during the current financial year 2026–27, these review meetings have been held on

06.05.2026 and 10.07.2026.

(b): The details of the financial progress under relevant schemes of MoTA in the State of Bihar are given in Annexure-I. The district-wise financial progress is not maintained in the Ministry as the responsibility of allocation of funds to districts lies with the State Government.(c) to (e): The details of the benefits given under PM JANMAN, as on 30.06.2026, District-wise, in Bihar, are given at Annexure II.

Under DAJGUA interventions, 108 houses have been completed under PMAY-G, 1 tribal skilling centres has been established by MSDE in West Champaran and D/o Fisheries has approved 138.25 lakhs projects for 50 members. District-wise beneficiary data is maintained by the respective implementing Ministries/Departments. The details of projects approved by Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Bihar, District wise, under DA JGUA are given at Annexure III.

Further, Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned 3 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) in the State of Bihar. As on date, 2 EMRSs are functional. The details are as under:

Further, under the Ashram Schools & Hostels intervention of MoTA under DA JGUA, 5 major repair works in tribal residential schools have been sanctioned in Bihar.
