Posted On: 24 AUG 2026 8:08AM by PIB Delhi The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, said that compassion brings self-respect and contentment brings true happiness. He noted that this spirit further strengthens the bonds of cooperation and harmony in society.

The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam- “कारुेनात्मनो मान ंतृां च परतोषतः। उानेन जयेत्त वतक नश्चयाज्जयेत्॥” The Subhashitam conveys that self-respect is achieved by showing kindness or compassion to others.

Greed is overcome by being satisfied at one's fortune in life. One must conquer laziness, dubious reasoning and indecisiveness by exertion and entrepreneurship.
