STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2026 No. 787 EQUALITY The Equality Act 2010 (Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations) (Revocation) Order 2026 at 3.55 p.m. on 14th Made - - - - July 2026 at 9.30 a.m. on 15th Laid before Parliament July 2026 Coming into force - - 5th August 2026 In accordance with section 15(3) of the Equality Act 2006(1) (“the 2006 Act”), the Commission for Equality and Human Rights has requested the Secretary of State to revoke the Equality Act 2010 Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations which came into force on 6th April
2011.
The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 15(3) of the 2006 Act.
Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation
1.—(1) This instrument may be cited as the Equality Act 2010 (Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations) (Revocation) Order 2026 and comes into force on 5th August
2026.
(2) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.
(3) In this instrument, “the 2011 Code of Practice” means the Equality Act 2010 Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations(2) which was brought into force by the Equality Act 2010 Codes of Practice (Services, Public Functions and Associations, Employment, and Equal Pay) Order 2011(3).

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) The Commission for Equality and Human Rights has the power under Part 1 of the Equality Act 2006 (c. 3) to issue a Code of Practice in connection with any matter addressed by the Equality Act 2010 (c. 15), and also to request the Secretary of State to revoke a Code of Practice. The Secretary of State can then revoke a Code of Practice by order.
This instrument revokes the Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations which has been in force since 6th April 2011 (“the 2011 Code of Practice”). A new 2026 Code of Practice issued on 14th July 2026 (“the 2026 Code of Practice”) (ISBN 978-1-5286-6395-3) is brought into force, immediately after this instrument takes effect to revoke the 2011 Code of Practice, by the Equality Act 2010 (Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations)
(Commencement) Order 2026 (S.I. 2026/788). Hard copies of both the 2011 and 2026 Codes of Practice can be obtained from the Correspondence Unit, Equality and Human Rights Commission, Arndale House, The Arndale Centre, Manchester M4 3AQ.
