STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2026 No. 825 CONSTITUTIONAL LAW DEVOLUTION, WALES The Government of Wales Act 2006 (Increase of Capital Borrowing Limits) Order 2026 Made - - - - 15th July 2026 Coming into force - - 16th July 2026 The Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, makes this Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 122A(2) of the Government of Wales Act 2006(1).
A draft of this Order has been laid before and approved by resolution of the House of Commons in accordance with section 122A(4) of the Government of Wales Act 2006.
Citation, commencement and extent
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Government of Wales Act 2006 (Increase of Capital Borrowing Limits) Order 2026.
(2) It comes into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
(3) It extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Amendment to the Government of Wales Act 2006
2. In section 122A(1) of the Government of Wales Act 2006 (lending for capital expenditure), for “£1,000 million” substitute “£1,100 million”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Government of Wales Act 2006 (c. 32) to increase the capital borrowing limit set out in section 122A(1) from £1,000 million to £1,100 million.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the voluntary, private or public sector is foreseen.
