Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state:
(a) number of companies that have applied under the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars (SPMEPC) and the special outreach and facilitation measures undertaken by the Ministry to attract global electric vehicle manufacturers to invest in India and establish manufacturing unitsอพ
(b) whether the Scheme provides for localisation of manufacturing and technology transferอพ and
(c) if so, the details thereofอพ and
(d) the details of the investment, manufacturing capacity and employment generation proposed under the Scheme? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA)
(a): To attract investments under Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India (SPMEPCI), MHI had requested Indian missions/embassies and concerned ministries to promote SPMEPCI through international exhibitions, leverage Indian missions and utilizing platforms such as Invest India. Additionally, States/UTs were also requested to promote SPMEPCI along with other initiatives taken to attract foreign investment. Application window was open for 120 days till 21.10.2025, however, no applications were received.
(b) to (d): The objective of SPMEPCI, inter-alia, was to promote localisation to achieve the goal of โMake in Indiaโ and eligible investment under the scheme include expenditure on technology & transfer of technology. To avail benefit under SPMEPCI, applicants have to setup manufacturing facilities in India with a minimum investment of Rs. 4,150 cr. and made operational within a period of 3 years and achieve Domestic Value Addition (DVA) of 25% by 3 year & 50% by 5 year.
