Ministry of Law and Justice Centre Strengthens Judicial Infrastructure in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh Under Centrally Sponsored Court Infrastructure Scheme प्रव तथ: 25 JUL 2026 8:50PM by PIB Delhi The Central Government has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for the Development of Infrastructure Facilities for the District and Subordinate Courts since 1993-94. The Scheme covers five components, namely Court Halls, Residential Units for Judicial Officers, Lawyers’ Halls, Toilet Complexes and Digital Computer Rooms. As per information provided by the High Courts of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, the details of available Court Halls and Residential Units for Judicial Officers in the district and subordinate courts in these States vis-à-vis the sanctioned strength of judges as on 31.05.2026 is as under:

After receipt of the eligible proposals from the States/UTs, tentative allocation of funds to States/UTs is done and Mother Sanction is issued to States/UTs. The States/UTs can incur expenditure on the identified projects within the limit of Mother Sanction while adhering to the guidelines of CSS. For Financial Year 2026-27, Mother Sanctions of Rs 5.33 crore and 5.195 crore have been issued to the State of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh respectively.

In respect of the digital infrastructure for courts, comprehensive digital ecosystem has been created under the eCourts Mission Mode Project to support the entire lifecycle of a case from filing to final adjudication.

For digitalization of courts, funds amounting to Rs. 151.73 cr. and Rs. 20.66 cr. have been released to the High Court of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh respectively Under the Phase III of the eCourts Project.
