NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Karnataka Cinema

(Control) Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act No. 23 of 1964), the Government of Karnataka has made the draft rules to further amend the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Rules, 2014, as required by sub-section (1) of the said section: 15.07.2025. All persons who may be affected thereby were also given time to submit their information and views to the office of the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department within 15 days.

The Government have thoroughly reviewed all the objections and suggestions submitted within the stipulated time frame and finalized the said rules.

RULES

1. Title and Commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 55.- In the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Rules, 2014 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules) in rule 55, in sub-rule (6) the following proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely: - "Provided that the maximum ticket price for all screenings of films in all languages in all theatres in the State, including multiplexes, has been fixed at Rs.200 (two hundred rupees only) exclusive of all taxes." And provided that all multi-screen cinemas with premium facilities of 75 seats or less than that are exempted from the maximum ticket price limit of Rs.200.

3. Omission of rule 146. - In the said rules, rule 146 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted.
