JUDICIAL NOTIFICATIONS Amendments to the Commissioner of Oaths Rules, 1988. (R.O.C.No.81088-A/2022/F2) No. SRO C-19/2026.

The High Court of Madras, by virtue of powers derived from Article 227 of Constitution of India, Section 297 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Section 333 of BNSS, 2023), Section 139 of Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and under the provisions of Indian Oaths Act, 1969 hereby makes the following amendments to the Commissioner of Oaths Rules, 1988. The amendments shall come into force with effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Amendments In the said Rules, -

(i) In Rule 6 the words "On payment of prescribed fees" shall be deleted.

(ii) for Rule 7(a), the following rule shall be substituted, namely: "7 (a) The Commissioner of Oaths shall be appointed for a period of three years and shall also be eligible for re-appointment for a further period of three years at a time by the High Court, on payment of a fee of Rs.2,000/- in either case.

Provided that an application for re-appointment shall be made six months before expiry of the term.

Provided further that an application for re-appointment may be entertained, if made, three months before the expiry of the term and not thereafter, on payment of late fee of Rs.1,000/- in addition to the sum of Rs.2,000/-.

Note: (1) There shall be no limit for number of renewals.

(2) Every renewal shall take effect from the date of issue of proceedings of re-appointment by the High Court approving the re-appointment and not before."

(iii) for Rule 7(b), the following rule shall be substituted, namely: "7(b) Application for appointment/re-appointment as Commissioner of Oaths shall also bear a Court fee stamp of Rs.10/-" High Court, Madras, S. ALLI, 1st June 2026. Registrar General.

Amendments to the Commissioner of Oaths Rules, 1988. (R.O.C.No.89036-A/2022/F2) No. SRO C-20/2026.

The High Court of Madras, by virtue of powers derived from Article 227 of Constitution of India, Section 297 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Section 333 of BNSS, 2023), Section 139 of Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and under the provisions of Indian Oaths Act, 1969 hereby makes the following amendments to the Commissioner of Oaths Rules, 1988. The amendments shall come into force with effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Amendments In the said Rules, -

(i) for Rule 9 (d), the following rule shall be substituted, namely: "9 (d) Seal of the Commissioner of Oaths:- Every Commissioner of Oaths shall use a plain circular seal bearing his name and name of the area within which he has been appointed and the date of expiration of the license to exercise his function and the circumscription 'Commissioner of Oaths'.- "June 17, 2026] TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE 99

(ii) for Rule 18, the following rule shall be substituted, namely :- "18. Every Commissioner of Oaths shall have office at the place mentioned in the certificate of appointment and shall exhibit it in a conspicuous place there at in a Board showing his name and designation as Commissioner of Oaths and the date of expiration of the license".
