Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation NSO Organises Regional Training Camp for AIDIS, SAS and Migration Survey 81st Round Socio-Economic Survey scheduled from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 प्रव तथ: 16 JUN 2026 11:33AM by PIB Mumbai Mumbai, 16 June 2026 The National Statistics Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, will conduct the 81st Round of the Socio-Economic Survey on All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS), Situation Assessment Survey

(SAS) of Agricultural Households, and Migration Particulars from 1 July 2026 to 30 June

2027. The survey will be carried out jointly by NSO and the State Directorates of Economics and Statistics (DESs) across the country.

The Regional Training Camp (RTC) commenced on 15 June 2026 at the Regional Office, CGO Complex, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai, and will continue until 18 June 2026. Around 100 field staff members are participating in the training programme.Smt. P.A. Mini, Deputy Director General, Regional Office Mumbai, inaugurated the RTC. In her address, she highlighted the importance of the survey for evidence-based policymaking and stressed the need for maintaining high standards of data collection. She also appealed to the public to extend their cooperation to ensure the successful conduct of the survey.

Smt. Dr. Jyotsna Padiyar (IAS), Commissioner, Commissionerate of Economics and Statistics, Mumbai, graced the occasion. Senior officers from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Maharashtra, and NSO (FOD) also attended the training camp to ensure uniformity in survey procedures and practices. The programme provided a platform for discussing key operational aspects of the upcoming survey.

The survey will cover the entire Indian Union, except certain inaccessible villages in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

IMPORTANCE OF THE UPCOMING SURVEYS

1. All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) The AIDIS aims to generate comprehensive information on household assets, liabilities, indebtedness, and capital formation across rural and urban India. The survey provides valuable insights into household wealth, debt patterns, and access to credit, supporting policy formulation in the areas of financial inclusion, rural development, social protection, and the financial sector. The findings will also assist the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other government agencies in assessing household borrowing behaviour and strengthening the credit structure.

2. Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households The Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Households, integrated with the Survey on Land and Livestock Holdings, will be conducted in rural areas across the country. The survey aims to generate key indicators relating to land and livestock ownership, income, productive assets, indebtedness, farming practices, and access to agricultural technologies. The results will provide an updated assessment of the socio-economic conditions of agricultural households and support evidence-based agricultural policy planning.
