GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF PLANNING LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO 1798 TO BE ANSWERED ON 30.07.2025 ASPIRATIONAL DISTRICTS †1798. DR. RAJEEV BHARADWAJ:

Will the Minister of PLANNING be pleased to state:

(a) the number of aspirational districts identified across the country;

(b) whether Chamba district has been identified as an aspirational district; and

(c) if so, the details of the facilities to be provided in these aspirational districts by the Government? (a) There are 112 Aspirational Districts across 26 States and 1 Union Territory. The list is attached at Annexure.

(b) Yes, Sir.

(c) Aspirational District Programme (ADP) aims at rapid transformation of 112 aspirational districts across sectors which are critical for improving overall quality of life of citizens.

49 key performance indicators have been selected across different sectors, these sectors are Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and Water Resources, Financial Inclusion and Skill Development and Basic Infrastructure. On the basis of these key indicators, districts are ranked periodically. ADP focuses on the effective implementation of existing Central and State Government schemes through convergence at the district level. Under the Aspirational Districts Programme, districts undertake various developmental projects to address critical gaps using the financial grants they win through the programme's delta ranking method.
