Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of the project to develop cities as "growth hubs" in line with the announcement made in the Union Budget 2024-25; and
(b) whether any city from Bihar has also been selected under the said project and if so, the details thereof, city-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU)
(a) & (b): The Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) scheme has been operationalized with the launch of Operational Guidelines for UCF on 15th April, 2026. The scheme guidelines are in public domain and may be accessed at
https://www.mohua.gov.in/static/uploads/2026/04/7950afb9b2d5cb773ba3d 6c64bde9726.pdf UCF supports the development and strengthening of urban infrastructure through implementation of transformative and impactful projects under three verticals namely โCities as Growth Hubsโ, โCreative Redevelopment of Citiesโ and โWater and Sanitationโ.
So far, 33 projects have been approved/ accorded in-principle approval. No proposal has been received from Bihar State for consideration under UCF. *****
