Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has assessed the decline in employment opportunities in the manufacturing sector and heavy industry sector despite initiatives to promote domestic manufacturing;
(b) the details of number of direct and indirect jobs created in the heavy industries sector during the last five years, State wise;
(c) whether the Government proposes new industrial projects in economically backward regions; and
(d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA)
(a) & (b): Since, Industry is a State Subject as per the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) does not maintain any centralized data on number of direct and indirect jobs created in the heavy industries in any part of the country.
However, the Ministry of Heavy Industries administers two Schemes namely the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage, and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry (PLI-Auto) notified on
09.06.2021 and 23.09.2021 respectively. The year-wise data regarding employment generated
