ANSWER THE MINISTER FOR FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH)
(a): The details of the Gender Budget allocation for the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) for the years 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 is placed below:- (Rs. in crore) Scheme Name BE 2024–25 BE 2025–26 BE 2026-27 National Livestock Mission (NLM) -- 240.00 Dairy Development -- 300.00 Development Programmes - NLM -- 242.40(b) and (c): The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) is implementing various schemes, namely the National Livestock Mission (NLM), Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), Livestock Census & Integrated Sample Survey (LC&ISS), Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) and National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD). These schemes are not gender- specific and are implemented in accordance with the respective scheme guidelines, which encourage States/Implementing Agencies to accord priority to women farmers engaged in dairy, livestock rearing and allied activities.
Women engaged in these sectors benefit from the Department's interventions aimed at improving livestock productivity, strengthening dairy infrastructure, higher milk productivity, promoting breed improvement, doorstep bovine breeding services and enhancing market access. Further, the Department encourages States to promote the participation of women in training and capacity-building programmes, including engagement of women as Multi- purpose Artificial Insemination Technicians in Rural India (MAITRIs), thereby strengthening their role in the livestock sector and promoting women empowerment.
