3601. Shri Bapi Haldar:
Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of applications received under the PM Internship Scheme from Mathurapur Lok Sabha Constituency in West Bengal and the number of candidates selected, placed and who have successfully completed their internships, year-wise;
(b) the details of beneficiaries, including Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) from Mathurapur, category-wise;
(c) the steps taken to create awareness about the Scheme in the coastal and rural areas of Mathurapur so as to ensure wider participation of eligible youth; and
(d) whether the Government proposes to provide adequate reservation/preferential representation for SC and ST youth, in accordance with the applicable policy, under the PM Internship Scheme and if so, the details thereof? (a): The PM Internship scheme is being implemented as a national level scheme in which internship opportunities are posted across districts/cities in all States/UTs.
The parliamentary constituency-wise data of the same is not maintained.
Details of applications received, number of candidates who received internship offers, joined and completed internships in West Bengal, district wise in Round I,Round II and Round III of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project is attached at Annexure I,II and III respectively.
(b): The category wise details of candidates, including SC and ST candidates, who joined internship in Round I, Round II and Round III of the PM Internship Scheme pilot project, district wise in West Bengal is attached at Annexure IV,V and VI respectively. As mentioned in reply to part (a) above, parliamentary constituency- wise data of the scheme is not maintained.
(c): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is actively working with various stakeholders such as state governments, central government ministries & departments, and industry associations for promotion and implementation of the scheme. District level Nodal Officers have been nominated in over 22 districts across West Bengal to undertake awareness activities and facilitate dissemination of information regarding the PMIS.
Further, Information, Education and Communication activities including workshops, seminars, and promotional campaigns are being carried out at Vocational Schools, ITIs, Polytechnics and General Colleges across the state.
(d): As per the Guidelines of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, a pool of candidates based on the number of applications received from all parts of the country, is shortlisted for each internship opportunity through the Portal, by matching the qualifications of the applicants with the qualifications sought by the company for that internship opportunity. The shortlisting process is aimed at promoting diversity and social inclusivity in the internship program through providing for representation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes as well as Persons with Disabilities in the shortlist sent to the concerned company for further selection as per their respective processes and criterion.
