Airport and if so, the details...

be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Ministry proposes to commence additional international flight services from Rajkot Airport and if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken in this regard;
(b) whether the Ministry has taken up the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs for notification and deployment of adequate immigration facilities and manpower at Rajkot Airport and if so, the present status thereof; and
(c) whether the Ministry has also taken up the matter with the Ministry of Finance for notification and deployment of adequate custom facilities and manpower at Rajkot Airport and if so, the present status thereof? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol)
(a) International flight operations are governed by Bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) between India and the respective countries. In accordance with respective ASAs, Indian designated carriers are free to mount operations to/from any point in India including Rajkot to any foreign destination as per mutually agreed capacity limits. However, the start of direct international flights from any point in India is purely a commercial decision of scheduled airlines on the basis of passenger demand, availability of slots, economic viability of the route, and other associated factors. The Government does not interfere in the operational plans of the airlines.
(b) and (c) The Ministry of Finance vide Notification dated 07.02.2025 has declared Rajkot International Airport as a Customs Notified Airport. Adequate Customs facilities have been established in the New Terminal Building. ;
Further, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has been requested to notify Rajkot International Airport as Immigration Check Post (ICP). ******
