3772. Shri Adhikari Soumendu:
Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that Government has approved Rs. 8.508 crore rural development package aimed at boosting infrastructure and livelihoods in the State of West Bengal, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether it is also a fact that Government has sanctioned 153 lakh person-days under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rojgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) scheme, replaced by Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
(MGNREGS) for West Bengal, to mark a substantial enhancement in rural employment and livelihood stability within the State thereof; and
(c) if so, present status for sanction of funds for West Bengal towards rural jobs program under VB-G RAM G? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN)
(a) to (c) : Consequent upon enactment of Viksit BharatโGuarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), Act 2025, the VB-G RAM G scheme has been operationalized in rural areas of the entire country including State of West Bengal with effect from 1st July, 2026. For the State of West Bengal, an Interim Allocation of Rs.
8508 crore has been made for FY 2026-27 (for the period of
01.07.2026 to 31.03.2027). Accordingly Mother Sanctions for an amount of Rs. 1264.49 crore have already been issued for various components, in order to enable State to provide wage employment, strengthen rural livelihoods and create durable community assets in the State.
Page 1 of 2It is stated that under VB-G RAM G no labour budget in the form of person days are sanctioned to States/UTs. However after resumption of implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGS in the State of West Bengal w.e.f. 01.06.2026, for the month of June 2026, Labour Budget of 153 lakh person-days was approved by the Empowered Committee.
