Parliament Question: Recruitment in BHEL

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1444 ANSWERED ON 28.07.2026 RECRUITMENT IN BHEL †1444. SHRI MURARI LAL MEENA:

Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:

(a) the group-wise details of sanctioned, actual and vacant posts of group 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' all CPUs includes in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL);

(b) the group-wise details of current representation, vacant and backlog posts vis-a-vis those reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in BHEL;

(c) the details of special recruitment drives launched to fill up the vacant and backlog posts of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes category during the last three years and the year-wise results thereof;

(d) whether the Government proposes to implement any time-bound action plan to ensure full compliance of reservation provisions in BHEL, to fill up backlog vacancies expeditiously and to increase Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes representation; and

(e) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA)

(a): Deployment of Manpower in the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the administrative control of Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), depends upon the growth and volume of the business and is not vacancy based. This Manpower strength expands or contracts to suit the changing business outlook.

(b): The details of total incumbent in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) vis-à-vis representation of Scheduled Castes (SCs)/Scheduled Tribes (STs) as on 20.07.2026, are as under:- Group Total Incumbent Total Incumbent - SCs Total Incumbent - STs Executives 10,638 2,018 907 Non- Executives 16,627 3,610 1,140 Total 27,265 5,628 2,047 There is no backlog vacancy as on 20.07.2026.

(c): No special recruitment drives have been undertaken by BHEL during the last three years.
