Parliament Question: Sports Facilities in Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:

(a) whether any training centre or other sports facility of Sports Authority of India (SAI) is operational in Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts and if so , the details thereof along with the information on available sports facilities;

(b) if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the large number of talented players from both the above districts performing excellently at the State and National levels but facing a lack of adequate sports infrastructure and high-level facilities;

(d) whether the Government has made any assessment of the need to establish Khelo India Centres or strengthen the existing sports infrastructure in these districts; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (DR MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) *****

(a) to (e): ‘Sports’ being a State Subject, the responsibility of promotion and development of sports, including creation of sports facilities, rests primarily with the respective State/UT Governments.

Under the Khelo India Scheme, the following sports facilities are

operational in Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts:
