Parliament Question: Status of Transfer of BSP-owned Land

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF STEEL LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 290 FOR ANSWER ON 21.07.2026 STATUS OF TRANSFER OF BSP-OWNED LAND

290. SHRI VIJAY BAGHEL:

Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware of the fact that the transfer of land of entire habitation area of Nevai Basti densely populated by labour is lying pending till date due to the indifference and laxity on the part of the district administration and the officers of the plant; and

(b) the details of the current status of the transfer of the BSP-owned land, densely populated labour colony, Nevai Basti, Maroda, District Durg (Chhattisgarh) through the SAIL Board to the Municipal Corporation of Risali? .

ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) MINISTRY OF STEEL

(a)&(b): Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL)/Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has completed all requisite formalities, including obtaining the approvals of the SAIL Board, execution of the respective Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the State Government, handing over physical possession of the said land parcels and receipt of the prescribed acquisition and establishment charges. The formal transfer of title, including the execution and registration of conveyance deeds, mutation of revenue records, and other related formalities, falls within the jurisdiction of the State Government concerned in accordance with the applicable laws and procedures.
