Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state:
(a) the total volume and value of India’s steel exports along with major destination countries during the last three years, year-wise;
(b) whether the Government has identified key challenges affecting steel exports, including global demand fluctuations, trade barriers, high input costs and competition from other exporting countries, if so, the details thereof;
(c) the measures taken to enhance the competitiveness of Indian steel in international markets, including policy support, quality standards, and logistics improvement; and
(d) whether the Government proposes any additional initiatives to boost steel exports, diversify markets and increase India’s share in global steel trade and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) MINISTRY OF STEEL

Steel is a deregulated sector and the Government acts as a facilitator by creating a conducive policy environment for the development of steel sector in the country. The decisions regarding import and export are taken by the steel companies based on techno-commercial considerations and market dynamics.
