3744. SHRI UMMEDA RAM BENIWAL:
Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of villages in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts of Rajasthan selected under the Vibrant Villages Programme, along with the details of funds sanctioned, released and projects completed therein;
(b) whether the Government has assessed the impact of the Programme on infrastructure, connectivity, livelihood opportunities and essential services in the selected border villages of Rajasthan, and the findings thereof; and
(c) the total number of villages covered under the Programme across the country, the State-wise allocation of funds and the measures taken to ensure timely implementation and balanced development of border villages? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI)
(a) to (c): Central Government has approved the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II), as a Central Sector Scheme, with a total outlay of ₹6839 crores till the Financial Year 2028-29 for comprehensive development of select villages located in blocks abutting International Land Borders
(ILBs), other than the northern border already covered under VVP-I, in 15 States & 2 UTs including Rajasthan.-2- L.S.US.Q.NO. 3744 FOR 11.08.2026 Under VVP-II 1954 select villages have been identified for comprehensive development including 184 villages of Rajasthan which also include 66 villages of Barmer and Jaisalmer Districts.
The areas of interventions under VVP-II are : (i) livelihood generation, (ii) road connectivity, (iii) energization, (iv) village infrastructure including health facilities, (v) financial inclusion, (vi) empowerment of youth & skill development, (vii) development of cooperatives, SHGs & FPOs for managing livelihood opportunities and maintenance of assets created under the programme, (viii) promotion of tourism, culture and outreach activities, (ix) education infrastructure and (x) television and telecom connectivity.
