Dated : 18th January, 2026 28, Pausha, 1947 Saka No. 23/2025/ERS:- Whereas, the Commission, vide its letter no 23/2025-ERS (Vol.II) dated 27.10.2025, had announced Special Intensive Revision in 12 States/UTs namely A & N Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Whereas, the draft rolls were published on 23.12.2025 and the period of filing claims and objections in the State of Kerala was fixed from 23.12.2025 to 22.01.2026 and
Whereas the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its Order in WP (Civil) No. 1133/2025 dated 15.01.2026 has advised the Commission to consider the desirability of extending claims and objections for a suitable period.
Whereas Chief Electoral Officer, Kerala has also requested to extend the claims and objections period.
IV-C Ex.-36 36-136-2 GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EX., 28-01-2026 [ PART IV-C
Whereas the Commission, in light of Hon'ble Supreme Court Order, request received from Chief Electoral Officer Kerala and other relevant factors and in exercise of the power conferred by proviso to Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, has decided to extend, the period for filing claims and objections up to 30.01.2026 for ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls with reference to 01.01.2026 as the qualifying date in the State of Kerala.
Whereas, the draft rolls were published on 19.12.2025 and the period of filing claims and objections in the State of Gujarat & Tamil Nadu, was fixed from 19.12.2025 to 18.01.2026 and
Whereas the Commission has considered the request received from Chief Electoral Officer, Gujarat & Tamil Nadu and other relevant factors and in exercise of the power conferred by proviso to Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, has decided to extend, the period for filing claims and objections up to 30.01.2026 for ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls with reference to 01.01.2026 as the qualifying date in the State of Gujarat & Tamil Nadu.
