AYUSH FOCUS AREAS FOR STRENGTHENING AYUSH SECTOR प्रव तथ: 11 AUG 2026 5:26PM by PIB Delhi The key focus areas identified for strengthening the Ayush sector under the Union Budget 2026-27 are setting up of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda, upgradation of WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar to bolster evidence-based research, training and awareness for traditional medicine, Training of care givers including Ayush, Inclusion of Ayush in Medical Value Tourism and Strengthening of high Standard of Certification facility in Ayush.

The budget allocation for the Ministry of Ayush for the year 2026-27 comprise the allocation of Rs. 114.86 crore for carrying out the Administrative expenses, Rs. 2588.47 crore for running the various activities under statutory/autonomous bodies, Rs. 405.60 crore for carrying out the various activities under Central Sector schemes and Rs. 1300.00 crore for carrying out the various activities under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.

Ministry of Ayush is implementing one Centrally Sponsored Scheme namely National Ayush Mission (Details at Annexure – I) and six Central Sector Scheme namely Information, Education and Communication (IEC), Promotion of International Cooperation (IC), Ayurgyan, Ayurswasthaya Yojana, Ayush Oushadhi Gunvatta Evum Uttapadan Sanvardhan Yojana (AOGUSY) and Central Sector Scheme for Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants. The scheme-wise budget allocation for the year 2026-27 is at Annexure – II.

The establishment of regional medical hubs was announced in the Union Budget 2026–27. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the nodal Department for this initiative, had undertaken extensive stakeholder consultations, including through a post- Budget webinar with domain experts, concerned Ministries and Departments, healthcare institutions, industry associations, representatives of the hospitality sector, multilateral organisations and other stakeholders. Ministry of Ayush has provided timely technical inputs and suggestions to DPIIT for integration of Ayush systems in the said hubs. No formal proposals for implementation framework have been received.

Annexure – I Centrally Sponsored Scheme (National Ayush Mission) Ministry of Ayush is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) through State/UT Governments and supporting their efforts for overall development and promotion of Ayush systems of medicines including Ayurveda in the Country through State/UT Governments and providing financial assistance to them as per the proposals received in their State Annual Action Plans

(SAAPs) within the provisions of NAM guidelines.

The NAM inter-alia makes provision for the following: i. Operationalization of Ayush Health & Wellness Centres now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandir

(Ayush) by upgrading existing Ayush dispensaries.ii. Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres

(CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs). iii. Upgradation of existing standalone Government Ayush Hospitals. iv. Upgradation of existing Government/Panchayat/Government aided Ayush Dispensaries/ Construction of building for existing Ayush Dispensary (Rented/ dilapidated accommodation)/Construction of building to establish new Ayush Dispensary in the area where there are no Ayush facilities available.

v. Setting up of up to 10/30/50 bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals. vi. Supply of essential drugs to Government Ayush Hospitals, Government Dispensaries and Government/Government aided Teaching Institutional Ayush Hospitals.

vii. Ayush Public Health Programmes. viii. BCC/IEC Activities. ix. Establishment of new Ayush colleges in the States where availability of Ayush teaching institutions is inadequate in Government Sector.

x. Infrastructural development of Ayush Under-Graduate Institutions and Ayush Post-Graduate Institutions/ add on PG/ Pharmacy /Para-Medical Courses.

Further, as per the proposals received from State/UT Governments through SAAPs, an amount of Rs.

6,40,699.24 lakhs have been allocated/released from 2014-15 to 2025-26.
