Parliament Question: AYUSH Hospitals in Tiruchirappalli

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO-3329 ANSWERED ON-07/08/2026 AYUSH HOSPITALS IN TIRUCHIRAPPALLI

3329. SHRI DURAI VAIKO

Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to establish a 50 or 100-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital and Centre of Excellence in Tiruchirappalli, considering its strategic location and the growing demand for AYUSH services and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has received any proposal from the Government of Tamil Nadu for strengthening AYUSH infrastructure in Tiruchirappalli under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM);

(c) if so, the details thereof and the current status in this regard;

(d) whether the Government proposes to sanction financial assistance for establishing new AYUSH hospitals, wellness centres, research facilities and speciality treatment units in Tiruchirappalli; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the expected timeline for implementation thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)

(a) No such proposal.

(b) & (c) Under National Ayush Mission (NAM), as per the proposals received from State Government of Tamil Nadu through State Annual Action Plans, they have been supported for strengthening of AYUSH infrastructure for Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [ AAM

(Ayush)], Co-located Ayush units, Integrated Ayush Hospitals (IAH) and Ayush Educational Institution. As reported by State, the status of infrastructure support in Tamil Nadu including Tiruchirappalli district along with their status is placed at Annexure.

1(d) & (e) Public Health being State subject, the establishment of new Ayush hospitals, wellness centres, research facilities and speciality treatment units in Tiruchirappalli district comes under the purview of respective State Government. However, under NAM, State Government may avail financial assistance for establishment of 10/30/50 bedded Integrated Aysuh Hospitals by submitting suitable proposals through SAAP as per the provisions of NAM guidelines. Since, implementation of NAM Scheme is being done by State Government, accordingly, time line for implementation of approved activities is not being fixed by the Ministry.
