2130. SHRI CAPTAIN VIRIATO FERNANDES:

Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state: प(cid:517)न, पोत प(cid:303)रवहन और जलमाग(cid:330) मं(cid:361)ी

(a) whether there are any plans of the Government to start competency examination for Nautical & Engineering in Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) Goa, if so, the steps taken towards it's implementation; and

(b) whether there is any plan to depute Principal Surveyor in MMD, Goa? ANSWER MINISTER OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL)

(a) & (b) No. At present, there is no plan to start the Certificate of Competency examination in Mercantile Marine Department, Goa. Candidates can avail the examination facilities at other approved MMDs (Annexure).
