Parliament Question: Facilities Provided to Fishermen from Thanjavur

Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state: प(cid:517)न, पोत प(cid:303)रवहन और जलमाग(cid:330) मं(cid:361)ी

(a) the number of seafarers or fishermen from Thanjavur district registered under the Seamen's Provident Fund Organisation during the last five years;

(b) the welfare benefits disbursed to such registered beneficiaries during the same period; and

(c) whether any Directorate General of Shipping training facility or certification centre is accessible to residents of Thanjavur district, if not, whether any proposal exists to establish one and if so, the details thereof? (a) & (b) 09 (Nine) seafarers have been registered under the Seamen's Provident Fund Organisation during the last five years.

(c) Residents of Thanjavur district have access to Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) approved 176 Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) across India.

Further, there are, at present 35 DGMA approved MTIs in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring regions.
