Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has proposed to construct and run 500 hostels under PM JANMAN;
(b) is so, the details thereof;
(c) the status of its implementation in Andhra Pradesh, year-wise and district-wise;
(d) the details of time and cost overrun of any of the projects under the above scheme along with reasons thereof; and
(e) the timeline for completion of such projects under said scheme? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)
(a) to (c): Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) is the flagship programme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs and is being implemented as whole of Government approach in convergence with line Ministries. Ministry of Education is one of the line Ministries for implementation of PM JANMAN. Under the scheme, one of the activities is construction of 500 hostels under Samagra Shiksha which is being implemented by Ministry of Education. Since 2023-24, 492 hostels have been approved under PM JANMAN across 17 States and Union Territories. 87 hostels have been approved for Andhra Pradesh under PM JANMAN. The year- wise and district-wise details are at Annexure.
(d) & (e): Funds under the scheme are released as per norms of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme and as per guidelines issued by Ministry of Finance from time to time. The Abhiyan period is from 2023-24 to 2025-26. As on date, no delays or cost overrun have been reported.
