Parliament Question: Impact of Reduced Outlay for Fertilizers

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) whether Government is aware of the fact that the projected outlay for the Department of Fertilizers in 2025-26 was Rs. 1,84,704.63 crore but the Revised Estimate was Rs. 1,71,082.44 crore, representing a reduction of 7.38 per cent, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the said reduction affected both the Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) Scheme and the Urea Subsidy Scheme; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS (SMT. ANUPRIYA PATEL)

(a) to (c): The details of BE and RE for financial year 2025-26 is as under; (Figures in Rs. Crore) Financial Year Budget Estimates (BE) Revised Estimates (RE) 2025-26 Rs.1,84,082.44 Rs.2,15,148.63 The budgetary allocation for fertilizer subsidy is reviewed periodically, based on which, the process for seeking additional budgetary allocation, on requirement, is undertaken, as per the extant provision.
