Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is providing adequate infrastructure support for digital education (online learning) in Maharashtra, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether there has been any deduction in the grant received by Maharashtra under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan;
(c) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the status regarding the number of schools, student-teacher ratio and facilities in schools of tribal and backward areas of Maharashtra along with the district-wise details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)
(a): Education is in the concurrent list of the Constitution and majority of the schools are under domain of the respective State and UT Governments. As per information received from the State Government of Maharashtra, a total of 4,072 ICT Labs and 6,624 Smart Classrooms have been sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI scheme. Further, 45,359 schools, out of 64,791 Government and Local body schools have smart TV in State of Maharashtra.
(b) & (c): Samagra Shiksha is implemented in partnership with all the States and UTs, including Maharashtra, and financial assistance is provided to them for various components based on proposals submitted in the Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWP&B). These plans are then appraised/approved by PAB in consultation with the States and UTs as per the programmatic and financial norms of the Scheme and availability of budgetary resources. The proposals of Maharashtra under Samagra Shiksha have been approved as per norms. For 2025-26, total amount of Rs.2489.88 crore has been approved.(d): State Government of Maharashtra has informed that there are 64,791 Government Schools, 24,378 Private Aided and 18,988 Private Unaided schools out of 1,08,157 total schools across Maharashtra. Student-Teacher Ratio of Maharashtra is 28:1. The district wise details of ICT Labs, Smart Classrooms and Digital Library sanctioned including tribal schools received from State Government of Maharashtra are at Annexure.
