Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate:
(a) whether the Government has taken a decision to include the recently approved dengue vaccine under the National Immunisation Programme or other Government health programmesfor the preventionof dengue, if so, the detailsthereof;
(b) the mechanisms put in place to ensure the availability, pricing, Government procurement and accessibility of the said vaccine across the country, including the State of Bihar, particularlydistrict of Sheohar;and
(c) whether the Government proposes to implement a comprehensive action plan incorporating vaccination, vector control, disease surveillance and public awareness to preventthe increasing incidence of dengue,if so, the detailsthereof? (a) to (c): The inclusion of any vaccine under the National Immunisation Programme (NIP) is based on the recommendations of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization
(NTAGI) after considering scientific evidence on disease burden, vaccine safety, efficacy, cost effectiveness,programmatic feasibilityandotherrelevantpublic healthconsiderations.
As of date, Dengue vaccine is not covered under the National Immunisation Programme or any otherGovernmenthealthprogramme forthepreventionofdengue.
The Government implements anintegrated strategy forprevention andcontrol of dengue through the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC). The strategy includes strengthened disease surveillance, integrated vector management, early diagnosis and case management, public awareness and community participation, inter sectoral coordination, and preparedness andrapidresponsetooutbreaks.
