Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is implementing National Mission for Mentoring;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the total number of mentors registered under the mission;

(c) the number of teachers trained so far, State/UT and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh;

(d) whether the Government is monitoring data regarding the performance indicators, if so, the details of the metrics used, State/UT and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh;

(e) whether the Government is monitoring data regarding the student learning, outcomes of teachers that underwent training; and

(f) if so, the details of the metrics used and data regarding the same, State and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDARY)

(a) & (b): Para 15.11 of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, inter-alia, mandates to create a large pool of outstanding senior/retired faculty willing to provide short and long-term mentoring/professional support to teachers. In terms of the above mandate, the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) has onboarded a total of 1,108 mentors till date.(c): The data regarding the mentees registered on the NMM portal across the country, including those in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, are given in Annexure at

(d) to (f): In order to diagnose learning gaps and determine interventions necessary in policies, teaching practices and learning, the Government conducts National Achievement Survey (NAS) in a cycle of three (03) years. NAS (now referred to as PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan) is a national level assessment about learning achievements in schools and was lastly conducted on 03rd December, 2024. https://parakh.ncert.gov.in/prs-reports-2024 Further, a National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR)-compliant platform National Centre of Teacher Quality (NCTQ) has been established in NCTE for the implementation and monitoring of NMM.

In order to provide 50 hours of continuous professional development opportunities to every teacher in the country, NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement) program has been introduced by the National Council of Education, Research and Training (NCERT). Under the NISHTHA programme, teachers are assessed on latest competency based pedagogical approaches corresponding to 5+3+3+4 design according to NEP, 2020.
