GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF JAL SHAKTI DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES, RIVER DEVELOPMENT & GANGA REJUVENATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3031 ANSWERED ON 06.08.2026 PROGRESS MADE UNDER NAQUIM 2.0 โ 3031. Shri JASWANTSINH SUMANBHAI BHABHOR:
Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the progress made in preparation of high-resolution aquifer mapping and area-specific groundwater management plans for Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency under the National Aquifer Mapping and Management Programme (NAQUIM 2.0);
(b) whether any scientific datasets or resource maps prepared under NAQUIM
2.0 have been shared with the local administration and block-level authorities of Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency to address regional water scarcity and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to deploy any innovative water management solutions or technology consortia under the ANRFโJal Shakti MAHA Water Mission to address drinking water and irrigation challenges in the water-stressed areas of the said Constituency and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY)
(a) & (b) Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency comprises parts of Dahod and Mahisagar districts. Under NAQUIM 1.0, CGWB completed aquifer mapping and preparation of Aquifer Management Plans for Dahod district covering about 3,642 sq. km and Mahisagar district covering about 2,512 sq. km. The studies 1assessed aquifer characteristics, groundwater resources, groundwater quality and recharge conditions and recommended suitable supply-side and demand- side interventions for sustainable groundwater management. The aquifer maps, groundwater data and Aquifer Management Plans have been shared with the concerned State Government agencies and the respective district administrations for use in groundwater planning and management.
Under NAQUIM 2.0, high-resolution aquifer mapping is undertaken in identified priority areas to address location-specific groundwater management issues. However, no separate high-resolution aquifer mapping study in Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency was undertaken under NAQUIM 2.0.
(c) The Mission for Advancement in High-Impact Areas (MAHA) Water Programme was launched on 01.06.2026. It is a joint initiative of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Department of Science and Technology and Ministry of Jal Shakti to support mission-oriented, solution- based research to address key water challenges. The five thematic areas of the
MAHA Water Programme are: Water Resource Assessment and Sustainable Management; Drinking Water; Water Quality, Human and Ecological Health;
Water Use Efficiency and Circular Economy; and Climate Resilience and Adaptation. ***** 2
