Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to

state:

(a)whether the Government has set a target to establish 30 medical colleges under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in the country;

(b)if so, the details thereof along with the number of medical colleges are likely to be established during the financial year 2026-27;

(c)whether there is any proposal to open new medical colleges under ESIC in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli;

(d)if so, the details thereof, particularly Ahilyanagar district; and

(e)if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE)

(a) to (e): Opening of Medical college is a continuous process subject to fulfilment of Employees' State Insurance Corporation

(ESIC) norms as well as National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.

So far, 17 ESIC Medical Colleges have been operationalised across the country. The list of 17 Medical Colleges is at Annexure.

Further, applications have been submitted to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for grant of Letter of Permission (LoP) to commence MBBS from the Academic Year 2026–27 for the following 06 ESIC colleges:
