PR No.64/2026 SEBI Teams win at IOSCO TechSprint 2026 on Investor Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Two teams representing Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) have won three awards at the prestigious IOSCO TechSprint 2026 held in Madrid on October 08, 2026.
The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) is an international body that brings together the world's securities and derivatives regulators and is recognized as the global standard setter for financial markets regulation.
About TechSprint IOSCO, in collaboration with UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) AI Lab, organized its first TechSprint on Investor Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The TechSprint coincided with IOSCO’s World Investor Week. It aimed to develop prototype, interactive investor-education resources that support regulatory authorities in enhancing retail investors’ understanding of emerging AI-related risks and opportunities. The
TechSprint focused on two critical problem statements tailored to modern threats: Problem Statement 1 (PS1): Combating AI-enabled fraud and scams (helping retail investors identify and avoid AI-enabled fraud, deepfakes, and scams).
Page 1 of 4 Problem Statement 2 (PS2): Navigating capital markets and AI-related risks (empowering investors to use AI as an educational tool while recognizing AI hallucinations and demanding Explainability).
SEBI had shortlisted the following two teams to participate in the IOSCO TechSprint:

Teams worked virtually for months, with regular check-ins and mentoring from IOSCO and its members, and showcased their project to a jury composed of members of IOSCO’s Committee on Retail Investors at an in-person Demo Day event on 8th October 2026 in Madrid. Pursuant to the presentation, Team SwipeWise was one of the two teams that were declared as the winners of IOSCO’s first TechSprint. Further, team TrustLens Shield received two awards - the Global Transferability, and Accessible Investor Education and Protection Awards.
TrustLens Shield Team TrustLens Shield was conferred two awards - the Global Transferability Award (solution with the strongest potential to be adapted across various jurisdictions) and the Accessible Investor Education and Protection Award (solution that most thoughtfully reduces barriers to investor education and protection), for developing an innovative AI- driven investor protection solution.
TrustLens Shield directly addresses the global challenge of AI-enabled financial fraud, including fraudulent schemes on messaging and social media platforms. The solution allows Page 2 of 4retail investors to verify suspicious financial messages, images, videos, links, etc. through WhatsApp, web interface and mobile app, in real time.
The tool cross-checks claim against live regulatory databases such as SEBI’s registered intermediary database, verified mobile apps list, payment details through SEBI Check etc.
It also checks unlawful/ misleading claims like guaranteed returns, to deliver an instant, plain-language risk analysis and an option to report it to SEBI. Additionally, the tool enables the investor to build fraud detection skills through adaptive learning modules.
SwipeWise Team SwipeWise won Problem Statement 2, “Navigating Capital Markets and AI-Related Risks,” at the inaugural IOSCO TechSprint. The team received the Pilot Pathway Award for its solution addressing how technology can educate and empower retail investors to use AI for finance while managing related risks across different regulatory and cultural contexts.
The award recognizes TechSprint solutions with the clearest pathway to regulatory testing, pilot, or deployment.
SwipeWise is an AI-enabled, gamified investor education platform designed to make learning about financial markets engaging and accessible. By replacing conventional lectures with interactive exercises rooted in inoculation theory, the platform helps retail investors pre-emptively recognize and navigate AI-related risks, such as hallucinations and confidently presented misleading claims.
Additionally, the solution features a regulator-oriented administrative panel that allows local authorities to seamlessly deploy jurisdiction-specific educational content and investor alerts without rebuilding the platform.
By combining interactive learning, practical exercises and technology-enabled access to investor-alert information, SwipeWise seeks to encourage investors to question, verify and evaluate financial information before making investment decisions.
