NOTIFICATION-2 The draft of the following rules further to amend the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999, Which the Government of Karnataka proposes to make in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 145 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act 01 of 1995) is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 145 of the said Act, for the information of all persons likely to be affected thereby within fifteen days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Whereas, the said Gazette was made available to the public on 27.03.2026.

And, whereas, the objections and suggestions received in this behalf have been considered by the State Government.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of

section 145 Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act 1 of 1995), of the Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

1. Title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools)(Amendment) Rules 2026.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the official Gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 5.- In the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999, in rule 3, for sub-

rule(3), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(3) Every application seeking recognition shall be accompanied by annual audit report which includes security deposit as specified in these rules in the form of e-bank guarantee in a nationalized bank in favour of concerned Deputy Director for School Education (DDPIs). The Management shall have the liberty to utilise the interest earned on the Security Deposit for the development of the institution.

In case of default or closure of school, the department shall have the right to utilize the Security Deposit to clear any dues payable by the Management.
