Ministry of New and Renewable Energy National Green Hydrogen Mission Advances Green Hydrogen Adoption in Petroleum and Refining Sector प्रव तथ: 11 AUG 2026 3:10PM by PIB Delhi The Government of India is implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) with the objective of making India a global hub for production, usage and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

Under the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) Mode - 2B scheme of the NGHM, Green Hydrogen production capacity of 30 Kilo Tonnes Per Annum (KTPA) has been awarded

for refineries as per following details:

Refinery Location Green Hydrogen Production Capacity Indian Oil Corporation Limited Panipat 10 KTPA Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited Bina 5 KTPA Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Vizag 5 KTPA Limited Numaligarh Refineries Limited Numaligarh 10 KTPA Total 30 KTPA The projects are implemented through BOO (Build Own Operate) arrangements through private developers, with project – specific investments by the concerned project developers. Domestic production and utilization of Green Hydrogen is expected to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, enhance energy security and support India’s clean energy transition and net – zero objectives.
