Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is coordinating with the Department of Telecommunications to ensure effective implementation of the BharatNet Project in Government schools as proposed in the Union Budget 2025-26;
(b) the number of Government Schools provided broadband connectivity under BharatNet Project in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(c) whether any Government Schools is benefited from this initiative in Tirupati district;
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) whether the Government has any proposal to ensure the broadband connectivity in all eligible schools to promote digital and inclusive education, particularly in Tirupati district? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)
(a) to (e): As part of Budget 2025, the Government of India through Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Telecommunication announced the provision of broadband connectivity to all Government Secondary Schools in rural areas under BharatNet Project, in a phased manner.
In the State of Andhra Pradesh, 2,910 Government Secondary Schools out of 6,930 have been connected to broadband connectivity. The rest are proposed to be connected with broadband connectivity under BharatNet in a phased manner, including 154 schools in the district of Tirupati to promote digital and inclusive education.
