Parliament Question: Closure of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Badarpur, Delhi

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is true that the Government is proposing to close Kendriya Vidyalaya established on NTPC land at Badarpur, Delhi after closure of NTPC Power House;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the manner in which the Government proposes to secure the future of the children studying in the said school? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)

(a) to (c) Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) NTPC, Badarpur, Delhi was opened in the year 1981-82 in project sector under the sponsorship or funding by NTPC, Badarpur mainly to cater to the educational needs of the wards of the NTPC employees. All the Recurring & non-recurring expenditure as well as 15% administrative overhead charges over and above the recurring and non- recurring expenditure made on the Project sector KVs are borne by the Sponsoring Project Authority, in this case NTPC Badarpur.

Due to the closure of the NTPC, Badarpur unit in 2018, NTPC has expressed its inability to provide financial support for KV NTPC, Badarpur.

The matter is sub-judice before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. *****
