(a) the details of the progress of the 16 ongoing Research and Development (R&D) projects under the AYURGYAN Scheme in the country, State/UT-wise, including Odisha, particularly in the Keonjhar Parliamentary constituency;

(b) the details of the operational status of the Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research

(ABIHR) component;

(c) the details and the projected timeline for setting up the three new All lndia Institutes of Ayurveda (AllAs) announced in the Union Budget 2026; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen research, education and healthcare infrastructure for the promotion and integration of Ayurveda through these initiatives? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)

(a) to (d) A Statement is laid on the table of the House.The Statement referred in reply to Lok Sabha Starred question no. 193 for 31.07.2026

(a) & (b) The Ministry of Ayush is implementing a Central Sector Scheme namely Ayurgyan since 2021-22 with the aim to support Research & Innovation in Ayush by providing Extra Mural Research activities and Education by providing academic activities, training, Capacity Building etc. The Scheme has 03 components viz. (i) Capacity Building & Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Ayush (ii) Research & Innovation (R&I) in Ayush from FY 2021-22 and (iii) Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research (ABIHR) was also added under the scheme as 3rd component in FY 2023-24.

Being the Central Sector Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the eligible institutions/organization across the country (including the state of Odisha) and the scheme is not specific to any State/UTs and regions .Under the Research & Innovation (R&I) in Ayush and Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research (ABIHR) components of the Ayurgyan Scheme, 34 and 11 research projects were supported respectively since inception of the scheme (i.e. 2021-22) for a duration of three years and funds were released on instalment basis. The details of the same is annexed at Annexure.

The outcomes of the research projects are in the forms of product development, patents, technology developed, SOPs, presentations on international platform, publication in reputed journals etc. The anticipated outcomes are realized upon completion of the projects. A total 82 research papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals under R&I component (including Erstwhile EMR) from FY 2021-22 to as on 30.06.2026. Further, under the R&I component of Ayurgyan Scheme, an amount of Rs.41.36 lakhs were released to National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, located in the state of Odisha, for conducting the research project.

(c) In pursuance of the announcement made in the recent Union Budget regarding the establishment of three new AIIAs, two committees namely, the Selection Committee and the Project Core Committee (PCC) have been constituted by the Ministry of Ayush for the purpose of site selection under the Challenge Method, issued by the Cabinet Secretariat.

(d) To strengthen integration of Ayurveda with basic sciences and the conventional system of medicine through high-end interdisciplinary research by promoting collaborative research between Ayush institutions and institutions engaged in modern biological sciences, ABIHR component of Ayurgyan Scheme has been implemented from 2023-24. Further, under Centre of Excellence component of Ayurswasthya Yojana, there is a provision for financial assistance for upgradation of infrastructure and integrative research activities.Ministry of Ayush is also implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) through State/UT Governments and supporting their efforts for overall development and promotion of Ayush systems of medicines including Ayurveda in the Country through State/UT Governments. The main objective of the scheme, inter-alia are as follows:

➢ Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs). ➢ Upgradation of existing standalone Government Ayush Hospitals. ➢ Setting up of up to 10/30/50 bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals.

➢ Establishment of new Ayush colleges in the States where availability of Ayush teaching institutions is inadequate in Government Sector. ➢ Infrastructural development of Ayush Under-Graduate Institutions and Ayush Post- Graduate Institutions/ add on PG/ Pharmacy /Para-Medical Courses.

Further, with regard to integration of Ayurveda, Government of India has adopted a strategy of Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs), thus enabling the choice to the patients for different systems of medicines under a single window.

In addition, Research Councils under Ministry of Ayush namely Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Science (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy

(CCRH), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy

(CCRYN) also undertake research activities such as Clinical Research, Drug Proving, Drug Verification, Drug validation, Drug Standardization, Public Health Research, Fundamental Research and Epidemic research through their Research Institutes/Treatment Centre/Peripheral Units. A total 693 no. of research studies (i.e. CCRAS-340, CCRH-142, CCRUM-140, CCRS-

71) were undertaken by the above Research Councils during FY 2025-26. ********Annexure
