Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) the total number of institutions benefited from retrospective course recognition by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE);

(b) whether two-year Master of Physical Education (M.P. Ed.) course of Tripura University (Central University) for academic sessions 2012-14 and 2013-15 has not been recognized by NCTE, despite its commencement under approval of University Grants Commission (UGC), if so the details thereof;

(c) whether the decision on retrospective recognition of M.P. Ed. course of Tripura University for said academic sessions is still pending;

(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the timeline for issuance of appropriate directions regarding recognition of M.P. Ed. Course of Tripura University for said academic sessions? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDARY)

(a) to (e): In exercise of the powers conferred by the second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 14 of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993 (73 of 1993), the Central Government, vide notifications dated 12th May, 2020 and 28th November, 2023, accorded retrospective recognition to thirty one (31) Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) funded by the Central Government or the State Government including the two-year Master of Physical Education (M.P. Ed.) course of Tripura University (Central University) for the academic sessions 2012–13 to 2014–15. The Gazette notifications dated 12th May, 2020 and 28th November, 2023 are given in Annexure at
