Ministry of Coal Rake Loading to Power Sector Rises to 444 Rakes on 06.09.2026, Marking Steady Day-on- Day Improvement

Posted On: 07 SEP 2026 10:12AM by PIB Delhi Coal loading to the power sector has shown a consistent upward trend over the past four days, rising from 370 rakes on 03.09.2026 to 444 rakes on 06.09.2026, a net addition of 74 rakes/day, including a single-day improvement of 31 rakes on 06.09.2026 alone. This reflects the sustained efforts of Coal India Limited

(CIL), its subsidiaries, SCCL and captive mine operators to ramp up coal supply to the power sector.

Day-wise Trend in Rake Loading to Power Sector Total rake loading to the power sector has progressively improved over the four-day period:

03.09.2026: 370 rakes/day

04.09.2026: 387 rakes/day (+17 over previous day)

05.09.2026: 413 rakes/day (+26 over previous day)

06.09.2026: 444 rakes/day (+31 over previous day) This represents a cumulative improvement of 74 rakes/day (about 20%) over the four-day period, with loading on 06.09.2026 reaching 444 rakes/day.

Company-wise Improvement on 06.09.2026 Nearly every coal-producing company registered an improvement in rake loading on 06.09.2026 over the

previous day:

MCL recorded the sharpest single-day improvement, up by 12 rakes to 111 rakes/day.

Captive Block loading rose by 6 rakes to 72 rakes/day.

BCCL improved by 8 rakes to 25 rakes/day.

NCL rose by 3 rakes to 35 rakes/day, and Private Washery (PW) & Goodsheds by 3 rakes to 42 rakes/day.

CCL and SECL also registered gains of 2 and 1 rakes respectively, taking their loading to 36 and 46 rakes/day.

ECL and WCL maintained their previous day's loading levels of 23 and 29 rakes/day respectively.

As a result, total CIL Siding loading rose to 305 rakes/day on 06.09.2026, an improvement of 26 rakes over the previous day.

Critical Plants Being Actively Monitored The number of critical thermal plants (stock below 25% of normative requirement) are being closely monitored, with corrective coal supply measures already in place to further ease the position at these plants.
